Bachelor Of Commerce

The Bachelor of Commerce degree programme prepares the student for careers in business to work in both the public and private sectors of the economy. The programme aims to provide the student with skills to conceptualize solutions to business and management problems and to enhance self-confidence and ability to critically evaluate management issues from academic and practical perspectives. It is designed to instill problem-solving attitudes, business ethics in the practice of management and to inculcate entrepreneurial and self-reliance attitudes and habits in students so that they may be active participants in the creation of new wealth. The programme is also designed to provide the student with information and communication technology skills to enable them function in today’s multifaceted world.

On completion students will be able to achieve the following:

  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding at a basic level of concepts and tools in:

Accounting, Information Systems, Economics, Finance, Management, Operations, Marketing and Statistics

  • To integrate functional business knowledge in a team setting

Ability to contribute within a cross-functional team to produce a corporate report, which integrates the functional knowledge acquired in the different disciplines of business.
Ability to cooperate and work effectively in a team.

  • To demonstrate communication skills and technology agility

Skill in presenting information in a well-organized manner both orally and in writing.
Skill in identifying and incorporating appropriate technologies to solve practical business problems.

  • To develop socially-responsible solutions to business problems in both local and global environments

Ability to analyse the global socio-economic and legal-political environments in business problem-solving.
Ability to identify region business issues and potential solutions.
Ability to recognize the ethical implications involved in business decision-making.
