BACHELOR OF EDUCATION (SECONDARY)

The purpose for this programme is based on the desire to meet the ever-increasing demand for secondary teachers in Uganda, the need to provide equal access to education, the changing nature of the contemporary secondary teacher given the new changes in school curriculum needs, student needs and the need to provide a more cost-effective alternative of providing education.

Programme Outcome:     

  • Service learning can help students learn more and be more engaged during class time.
  • In-service learning classes raise positive recognition from departments, schools, and professional associations or networks.
  • Service learning is a form of community engagementwhich can enhance a faculty member's experience and satisfaction.  Service learning can also be considered in promotion and tenure decisions.
  • In service training provides students with new teaching ideas.
  • Service learning can generate ideas and partnerships for community-based research and scholarly projects.

General Rule: All students must commence with the Foundation programme followed by selecting 2 teaching subjects from the humanity options listed below.
