Dr. Al-Mas Sendegeya has a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, a Master of Science in Renewable Energy, Licentiate Degree in Power Systems (Rural Electrification), a PhD in Rural Power Systems, a Certificate in Small Hydropower Engineering Development, and a Certificate in Solar Energy Engineering, has attended and given presentations in a number of Workshops on Sustainable and/or Renewable Energy. He has experience of more than 19 years heading departments, lecturing and curriculum development in Tertiary institutions and supervising students’ research projects at both undergraduate and Master’s levels. Dr. Sendegeya has been engaged in power systems research addressing extending power to rural communities. His main research interest is in the field of sustainable energy and energy for rural development. Considering isolated mini-grids and embedded generation. His research publications are mainly in capacity building in sustainable energy. He has provided various consultancy services in the field of Solar Energy and rural energy development with GIZ Uganda. He served on the board of an NGO in Uganda promoting Renewable Energy technologies in Uganda. Under this Organisation he worked on a number of rural energy projects, and served as the technical advisor in Renewable Energy issues and Energy for Rural transformation. He was involved in the EU funded project, the Sothern African sustainable Energy (SASEI) project coordinated by Namibia University Science and Technology (NUST). The project has been focusing on capacity building in sustainable energy in which three regional partner institutions were involved (Namibia, Botswana and Lesotho) and one Germany University. He has engaged in a number energy consultancy with different private sectors. Technical Consultant with the Electricity Control Board in Namibia. Solar thermal Training expert under the SOLTRAIN project managed by the Namibia Energy Institute (NEI), under the Namibia University of Science and Technology. He is proud to be the Dean of the Faculty in the royal university.

 Message From The Dean Of Faculty

I am very excited to serve the Faculty of Science, Information Technology, Art and Design (FSITAD) and its community as your new Dean. On behalf of the Faculty staff members, I would like to take this opportunity to introduce to you the Faculty as one of the core pillars of the university with a focus on imparting engineering, IT and Fine Art skills to students who are pursuing their degrees, diplomas and certificates in related courses. The faculty of committed to attract and support student population that is reflective of the communities in which we live. Our faculty provides the highest quality of education through teaching and research excellence, a vibrant educational environment and innovative programs. All these provide our graduates with the skills needed by employers to succeed and become leaders of tomorrow. In order to achieve this the faculty is guided by its vision, core values and objectives as shown herewith. The faculty is expanding to provide new programmes which are demand driven by the society.  Departments

The FSITAD is one of the biggest Faculties in Muteesa 1 Royal University, in terms of number of students and members of staff. It offers undergraduate, diploma and certificate courses under the following Departments:-

  • Engineering (located at Kirumba Campus, Masaka)
  • Information Technology (at both Kakeeka and Kirumba campuses)
  • Fine Art and Design (located at Kakeeka Campus, Kampala)
