Dean of Students

The office of the Dean of Students is responsible for students’ welfare while at campus. It liaises with other offices to ensure that students are oriented and assisted to live their life fully throughout their stay at the university. The department has a dedicated team of staff who are ready to help students to settle. These are led by the Mr. Samuel Nsubuga (Ag. Dean of Students) There are a number of units in the DOS’s office.

Guild Leadership

The Guild President for the 2017/18 academic is His Excellence Kirya Trust; who succeeded H.E. Jessy Lumu Sserunkuuma (2016/17)

Sports Unit

Currently, the university is proud of a very good women soccer team who participated in the FUFA Women’s league 2016/17 up to the semifinal stage; and Beach Ball teams both men and women. (Both the men and women beach soccer teams have gone for the finals of the FUFA Beach Soccer League

Religious Affairs

The religious Associations are very active and they have dedicated Chaplains and Imam for the Muslims Community. The Chaplains are: Rev. Amos Friday (Anglican, Masaka); Rev. Fr. John Fisher Kiyimba (Roman Catholic Masaka); Rev. Fr. Makoboza (Roman Catholic- Kakeeka); Rev. Kyeyune George (Anglican-Kakeeka). The Born again (at all campuses) Muslim Community at Masaka currently alternate their Spiritual Directors; Imam Hassan Musoke (Muslim Community – Kakeeka).

Students’ Associations

There are a number of registered Students’ Associations: Baganda Nkobazamboggo; Rotract Club; Red cross; Regional Associations (Northern, Eastern, West Nile, Central etc.); Integrity Ambassador’s’ club and others. All registered Associations have chairpersons who form the Council of Chairpersons. These are represented by three members at the Guild Representative Council (GRC).

Guidance and Counselling

Like any other human beings, students usually have a number of challenges and problems which require the expertise of the councilor. MRU has a department of Guidance and Counselling which works hand in hand with the department to help all those with personal, academic, orientation and career problems.

A disciplinary committee is ready to assist students with discipline issues to better their behaviors

There are accommodation and cafeteria facilities at the main campus at Masaka.


The university hires a professional medical team under the umbrella of Vine Medical Services who handle students’ health. These are doing a marvelous job.
